About P.O.O.R.

P.O.O.R. is a small NGO working in India to address some of the problems faced by the rural poor. P.O.O.R is currently working to improve existing infrastructures of several schools with attached orphanages in North and West Bengal, Meghalaya, Jharkhand, and Tamil Nadu.

P.O.O.R helps people living in poverty in India to improve the quality of their lives. So far, our efforts have focused on improving both educational facilities and the quality of education offered in rural areas as well as creating support systems for orphans, other disadvantaged children and their parents.

Educational Support

We provide financial support to schools to arrange basic teaching materials such as blackboards, desks, chairs, and textbooks. We recruit volunteers to teach classes and to train teachers. We arrange sponsors for orphans and children whose families cannot afford school fees.
